Choosing Between A Monochrome and a Color Night Vision Security Camera
A security-light camera with built-in camera and recording device will usually work, right? But to record video, a security light with video output doesn't always mean you'll be able to see very far into the distance, and a security light alone doesn't necessarily mean better night vision either. In fact, even if your security light has both a video input and an audio input, the resulting picture might not be very clear or even recognizable, because the light intensity varies with distance. - Light Sensitive Elements. Most security lights today use a metallic sensor called a photovoltaic array. This array absorbs photons from the light, which is then detected by an internal microchip within the camera. If there is no photo, the sensor will not turn on, thus effectively turning off the security lights. There are also elements available that allow live view, allowing people at the site to see what is happening via a monitor.
Live view security cameras use a wide range of electrical devices and microprocessors to capture live video images. These devices are very sensitive to changes in light, which means they must always remain in a well-lit room. Many professional security cameras also use daylight resistant or low light sensors, which give them even greater night vision capabilities.
