Rechargeable Mini Electric Chainsaws for Homeowners

Chainsaws are one of the most popular wood cutting, grooming, and trimming tools used by professional trim workers and do-it-yourselfers alike. But the big American chainsaw hasn't really undergone a real transformation since it has gone cordless; in fact, the old corded chainsaw is still available. Cordless chainsaws lack some of the ergonomic advantages of their corded cousins, but the battery-powered versions can still be pretty reliable, if you're only buying it to use at home. Check out five of the top contenders below, or scroll down for more detailed reviews of the best lightweight chainsaws and other alternatives.

The old standard for cordless chainsaws is the 18-inch bar powered model, which is just fine for felling and bucking. The new lightweight models, however, offer cordless chainsaws with options like an automatic (or adjustable) flow regulator. The automatic (or adjustable flow) regulator works via a small pump that feeds compressed air through the chain as it's turned by the trimmer. Some models allow the user to set the pressure of the air fed into the chain, which can make a big difference when cutting tough cedar or other hardwood. An automatic (, and adjustable flow) regulator that feature a pump help save time by instantly feeding air when the trimmer isn't moving, but the downside is that this feature usually requires additional maintenance.

Bar oil chain saws are a popular option for many homeowners, primarily because they're easy to keep lubricated, clean and maintain. This type of chainsaws usually feature an adjustable bar oil reservoir that's located above or below the blade, which allows the user to easily add or decrease bar oil as needed without having to remove the blade. Some of the more expensive models have a feed tray that's removable so the bar oil can be changed while the chainsaw is in use, which can be helpful if you have smaller gardens or lawn areas which need limbing or hedges that need pruning.

Mini battery operated chainsaws, which are also sometimes referred to as "foldable chainsaws," have one major advantage over their larger, stationary cousins: their portability. While larger chainsaws can usually only be used on lawns or patios, some battery-powered chainsaws are designed for use in small spaces, like apartments and basements. These models are usually very lightweight, with small battery packs (typically no more than four hours of power on the average) and rechargeable batteries. Because they don't have a motor, the battery powered chainsaw must be plugged into a standard outlet. Because of this, most models are designed to run on an electric motor (rechargeable batteries can also be used), but some models have options that allow them to run off of alternate energy sources, like solar panels or small propane burners. These are often utilized for cutting up firewood or performing chainsaw art.

Some battery powered chainsaws have both a cutting disc and a blade. The disc is the smaller blade on the side of most chainsaws and is used mainly for hard, sharp material like wood. However, it can also be used to slice through soft woods and materials like plastics. The blade, which is the bigger blade on the side, is usually only intended for cutting hard materials. These models are not only more difficult to use than the other types, but they may also be more dangerous because they can accidentally cut themselves if they are used incorrectly.

If you're interested in purchasing a chainsaw, make sure to read through the battery chainsaw reviews that consumers have given. These reviews can give you a good idea of what type of power tools will work best for your purposes. Different consumers will have different preferences for the amount of power they want from their chainsaws, so it's important to read through all of the battery chainsaw reviews before choosing a model. By reading through many of the reviews, you'll have a better understanding of which models and brands of chainsaws will best serve your needs.
