Air Purifiers With True HEPA Filters Bring Clean Air to Your Home or Office
A true HEPA filter works great for filtering the air you breathe in. The HEPA stands for "High Efficiency Particulate Air", which means that the air is free of particulates and allergen particles. A high-efficiency particulate air (HPA) filter is also a good kind of air purifier or absorbent that eliminates airborne allergens, microorganisms, dust, smoke, mold spores, and bacteria. HEPA stands for "high efficiency particulate air", but many people incorrectly think that it means "high-efficiency air". Although it is true that HEPA filters remove most harmful airborne contaminants from your air, that does not mean they are completely air-tight. In fact, even with the best HEPA filters, some airborne particles may be released from the filter that can still cause health problems.

HEPA purifier filters claim that they have the ability to trap microscopic pathogens, but this is simply not true. All that is truly being said about true HEPA filter performance is that they do well in preventing very small particles from entering the air. However, if a very small particle does enter, the quality of the rest of the air in the home may become less than desired. This happens with all filters but is more common with true HEPA filter systems. With a solid pre-filter, however, most particles are trapped before reaching the actual filter.
Many purifier manufacturers include a variety of pre-filters with their purifiers. In fact, some true HEPA filter systems include four or five pre-filters. Many of these pre-filters are designed to match the performance specifications of different kinds of HEPA filters. It is not unusual for an individual to have more than one kind on hand in order to have access to pure 411 air purifiers.
An important thing to keep in mind when shopping for filters is the difference in particle size. Most filters have a standard size, but there are a few exceptions. Some of the smaller filters can have very fine mesh sizes, which allow for trapping more particles. In addition, some of the filters designed for particle size smaller than 3 microns can be used in place of the standard filters. Regardless of the type of filter, it is essential that the filter size and mesh size to match the size of the room in which the air purifier will be located.
The next step in purchasing a pre-filter is to choose one that is effective at filtering HEPA contaminants. There are two basic kinds of HEPA filters: electrostatic and ionic. The pre-filter ionize the air before passing through the filter. The ions attract the pollutants, which are then trapped by the pre-filter. This is the traditional method of filtering.
Newer technologies have produced filters that use acoustic waves to clean air. By tuning the wave's frequency, the particles are attracted without attracting any other airborne particles. These are the filters used in most of today's new air purification products.
A true HEPA filter contains two to three layers of HEPA filtration. The top layer can be made from activated carbon. The middle layer can consist of different types of media. And finally, the bottom sheet consists of a finer mesh to trap any small particles that may be airborne during a shower or a bath.
